With over 31 years of experience, Mr. Chakmakis has litigated high value and complex cases to jury trial involving personal injury, automobile accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, slip and fall, medical malpractice, dog attack, and pedestrian incidents.  He has also tried cases involving defective products liability, fraud, design defects, intellectual property infringement, breach of contract, real estate, commercial negligence, and business torts; in state and federal court, and against multiple government entities.

George originally gained valuable experience from the “other side” of personal injury cases, as an insurance defense attorney in a large Southern California law firm.  Prior to founding Chakmakis & Associates, George worked in the Los Angeles offices of Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett where he primarily represented large corporations and insurance companies in litigation matters.  He founded his own law office in 1995 to enforce and protect the rights of injury victims.  Mr. Chakmakis also represents injured seaman in Jones Act cases and practices all areas of aviation law.  He uses his knowledge and experience as an instrument rated pilot to navigate the complex issues that are part of every aviation and airplane incident and transaction, including the prosecution and defense of pilots under the FAA rules and regulations.
Mr. Chakmakis has extensive pre-trial experience also, including hundreds of depositions.  The deposition is a pre trial proceeding that allows attorneys to cross examine witnesses and parties under oath, to gather vital information, and learn about other witnesses and evidence.  An experienced deposition attorney is vital and important because often the case is won or lost at the deposition stage.  George has taken and defended depositions of defendants, corporate officers, witnesses, and experts in the fields of medicine, accident reconstruction, employment issues, bio mechanics, design defects, defective products, law enforcement, and other specialties. In addition, George has represented white collar criminal defendants in state and federal cases involving copyright and trademark infringement, business licenses, and other professional issues.
In 2012, Mr. Chakmakis was honored to be a guest speaker at the largest annual attorneys’ convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Chakmakis has also acted as Judge Pro Tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court.  He sat on the bench in Metro Court, Van Nuys, Huntington Park, Culver City, and Beverly Hills; and has heard cases including contract disputes, personal injuries, and traffic.  George is also a member and panel attorney for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.  He represents pilots and victims in cases involving airplane crashes, FAA investigations and prosecutions, repair shop negligence, and airspace violations.
George is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and Southwestern Law School.  He is also an instrument rated pilot and enjoys flying and cycling in his free time.
